Tarzan looks great, Tmom... He's a big boy now...

Bug finally did quit chewing his tail, but not before he amputated about another 3 inches. Bit it off with one chomp. It was about the size if my little finger at the bite site... It's healed up well, though.

Which brings me to what's been up with him this summer. shortly after he finally quit with the tail biting, (he has some interesting scars on it) he became the iguana from hell three times over. Harry has nothing on Bug. At one point a month ago, we were having to block him into one side of the enclosure with panels in order to clean and feed him. Opening the door without blocking him triggered an instant, wildeyed, openmouthed attack.

Once,he actually launched at me from inside the enclosure and hit me in the chest from 5 feet away. I managed to towel him and strongarm him back in, but it was quite an experience.
At twelve pounds a bite from him would put you into plastic surgery in an eyeblink. He's as quick as a striking rattlesnake, too. For the past two weeks, he's gotten better, and we don't have to use the blocking panels, but it's still nearly impossible to get your hands on him. I have to towel him if he needs any body work, such as spine shed help. Mary has to be especially careful, as he will always go for her if she gets near him. Ah, well, someone has to own and care for the bad boys, and it seems Mary and I are elected.

This is just another example as to why these are not pets, they are not easy keepers, and they can be very dangerous, especially for the inexperienced....

Didn't mean to whine, we're doing well. Good to hear from you, too...

Best regards,

John
