These bulbs emit less than 1/4 of the amount of UVB that I get in full sunlight here in New England and, as Jif pointed out, half of what I get in shade. "Too much" UVB isn't a problem with these bulbs at all. The only concern would be if they throw too much heat for your enclosure. I seem to have found a balance with that by running a radaint heat panel in the enclosure for ambient heat and a merc vapor bulb for basking and UV. Just control the ambient temp by running the RHP on a temp controller.
