Junior is about 5 years old and although he has gotten more orange over the last couple of years, I haven't seen any "breeding" signals in him. He's my only ig, he freeroams a large room and I basically leave him alone. He's totally okay being handled (after I snip his nails!) and carried around - he's never even hissed at me, but I give him his space.
What I need to know is if an iguana is kept solo, are they more likely to reach sexual maturity at a later date?
When he was only about a year and a half old I briefly had a foster iguana - a female that was about twice his size. When I came home from work one day he was on top of her, trying to mount her, but it was a no-go because he had her neck in his mouth and his pelvis area was about 4 inches too far from hers! Pretty funny - I wish I'd taken a picture.
