My local Petco has juvie and adult iguanas dropped off there all the time... Most often they will call me to come pick them up, but they WILL adopt animals out right from the store as well. Petco's corporate policy is that they will take back any animal that was purchased there... Just wont give a refund after the guarantee has expired.

:Last time I checked Petcompany was a RETAIL outlet and NOT any kind of adoption/rescue service so what you did was PURCHASE a pair of MARGINALLY healthy iguanas. "Good health" in iguanas certainly does NOT constitutue swollen fingers, joints or abcesses. If you truly think that that is a healthy iguana you have much studying to do. I'd highly suggest that you get a copy of James Hatfield's "Green Iguana: The Ultimate Owner's Manual" and read it cover to cover QUICKLY and spend several hours scrolling through posts here as well.

:I took (as opposed to purchase) an iguana out of a local Petcompany backroom where it was quarantined because one of it's hands was "turning black". When the "reptile specialist" reached in to get the ig he knocked the hand on the 10g tank with no UV source which prompted the hand to literally fall off on the floor. Knowing what I know now regarding animal cruelty statutes I would have brought charges against that store. I'd do the same if I saw the mess that you just described as well. Most likely, they're "pretty tame" because they are both ill. Hatchling iguanas, by nature, generally do not sit around and do nothing - especially if one reaches for them. Their natural instinct is to run from the "predator" coming after them.

:Start looking around your area for a good herp vet. It sounds like these two igs need immediate attention. If you don't know of any in your area try looking at ARAV.org or herpvetconnection.com (org?)

:Which Petcompany was this? State/city/address?
