well, the tub of water sits at the bottom of a 6ft. tall enclosure. much of the bottom of the enclosure is mesh to allow fresh air to enter, so the bottom of the cage is significantly cooler than higher up toward the heat lamps. the water in the tub stays pretty chilly (i know i wouldn't want to soak in a bathtub with water that cool), and the object of the tank is to help get him pooping on his own again. his old tank was much smaller and therefore the water pan stayed warmer due to being closer to the heat lamps, and he would regularly poop in the water or right beside it as he sat his front feet in the water. now he has only ventured into the water tub once, and didn't stay long before he climbed back up to his basking shelves. our objective is to make the water comfortably warm so instead of carrying him to the sink full of warm water, we can just put him in his water tub until he makes the connection that he can just climb down there himself and poop whenever he wants. and naturally we'll be cleaning out the new tub every day as needed.

i guess we'll try a human heat pad. no one else keeps the iguana's soaking tub heated a bit?
