I just read in the local news paper that the Madagascar hissing cockroaches have been smuggled into Malaysia and have become a new fad among Malaysians who raise the giant roaches as exotic pets. The insect so named because of the hissing-like sound it makes during mating or when touched can be found in the local pet shops (in Malaysia) and its sold at RM 10 (2,5 USD) or RM 20 each. The roach , also known as the Giant African Cockroaches can grow up to 6.35cm, around 2,4 cm bigger than the average household cockroach!!But records showed it has even grown up to 15,2 cm-the size of a house rat-in South Africa.
As this FORUM is ONLY about iguanas I thought to buy some of these insects to give to my iguanas as treats but my igs dont like any insect!! Only greens, vegetables and...rice.(OK Godzilla??)But perhaps people from Water Dragon FORUM would be interested??!!!
