Meagan...lmao..I left the podium too soon lol..
In answer to your queries re:" alfalfa "
pellets sold as rabbit food pellets or guinea pig pellets like that ...are NOTHING more than SOY(protein) and just a little real alfalfa..read labels real good when buying "alfalfa pellets" the ONLY pellets with 100% alfalfa are HORSE pellets so far that Ive found. Alfaflfa hay bales are 100% alfalfa (not soy...soy=protein)
"alfalfa pellets" IF SOY is the main ingredient IS NOT good for your ig, on a daily basis.^protein in diet = renal failure one of the leading causes of premature iguana death. The salad & added veggies and goodies already have small amounts of protein in em. I personally ONLY add protein type products...(alfalfa pellets , soy(tofu), dog food , legumes, wheat products, whatever the vet recommends) when my iguanas need it(injuries,or illness or to supplement their diet i.e. when giving frozen to thawed foods..I add whole wheat bread to their salad). There are just a few basic principles to follow regarding iguanas diets ...once you get those down...the sky's the limit.
Enjoy
