When I take Lizard out to the park (across the street from my house), he attracts a lot of attention and people ask me lots of questions. But I don't think I've ever been asked what I get out of owning an iguana... Most of the time people get pretty interested in him. They want to know what he eats, how big he'll get and if they can pet him. :-) Only one person ever seemed to dislike him, and I think she was afraid. People do ask if iguanas make good pets, and I tell them yes.
Kate
: I always get asked, (which I am sure many of iguana owners do)
: "What do you get out of owning an iguana. They always scratch up your arms, why do you like them"?
: My answer, always is...."Why do you own a dog, or a cat"? My iguana is just as much of a pet/family member as my dogs and cats are". "They are very unique pets, with individual personalities, and yes they do have personalities." "And as far as the scratches go...well..that's just a "bonus"" ha ha. I went to the grocery store today and bought some fresh collards, spinach and romaine lettuce. The check-out girl said, "My, you sure eat healthy". I said, "No, those are for my iguana, the peanut butter cookies are for me"
