In Reply to: But He won't eat much...... posted by Heather on July 20, 2002 at 20:21:03:
Have you brought him to the vet? If he's sick or has parasites that could explain why he isn't eating much. After he's been treated for parasites or another illness (if he has them), his appetite would probably improve. Lizard had barely any appetite when we started treating him for MBD. He would only eat a couple little bites of greens per day. With a UVB light and calcium supplements, his appetite improved, first gradually, and then a lot more quickly. But for awhile I was very worried because he hardly ate, and I spent lots of time coaxing him to eat another little bite or two.
Anyway, it sounds like you're giving him a pretty good diet. If you can find something he likes a whole lot it might encourage him to eat more, even of the other foods on his dish. Lizard really likes snow peas and carrots (just for suggestions)
Kate.
: I posted before about it. He hasn't finished a bowl since I've had him. I've cut out all fruit and almost all veggies. Now I'm feeding him straight greens (Collard, Dandelions{a LOT of these cause they're his fav!}, Watercress, Escarole, Mustard) with a tiny bit of Zuccini (sp?). The bowl is a former cat food dish (reference for size). He ate more today (had him basking outside and put Dandelions in front of his nose) then He ever has. Maybe I should just keep trying to feed him outside??
: I'll tell mom no Avacados. Any other suggestions to make him eat? I tried mixing a little mango in. Seemed to work for a couple days, then I guess He got tried of it...
: Sorry for whinning...... I'm just worried.....:~(
