yes they are edible...but you have to make sure there you don't use any weed n feed or chemicals in your lawn or you can poison your iguana.

I buy mine from the store (leaves). The leaves are more nutritious than the flowers but you can feed him a couple flowers too.

As far as telling the difference, I'm not sure because there is a fake dandelion (forget the name of it) that looks almost the same. I don't know if I can identify the right one from a field/yard.
