I think a good rule is not to trust species around each other. A ferret or cat or whatever may be ok with a reptile for a while, but the one time they're not ok isn't going to be pretty. My friend said he knew a guy who had 2 ferrets and a baby. They walked in a room one day to find the ferrets attempting to drag the baby away by its hands... ouch!
