you're on the right track with your thinking ~ she had a really terrifying experience and it will just take some time for her to calm down and forgive you ... i wonder if she maybe doesn't quite realize that you were *helping* her and maybe kinda blames you??? igs can be silly that way ... :\

if i'm reading your post correctly, you've had her for like 6 yrs? so really, "Deep down" she knows you're the good guy! *grin*

do what you've always done around her, don't make any major changes, but at the same time, if there's any "treats" (food nummies) or "treatments"(head rubs, back rubs, nice lonnnnng soaks in the tub) that she really likes ....... (HINT HINT HINT!)

i'd also suggest trying *very* hard to NOT let her aggression make you back away from her ~ while her behavior is VERY understandable, how you react to it can/will have a lasting effect on how long that behavior continues ......

ok ... all of that said, i do have to add:
was it was unusual behavior for her to take off from the tree? if yes, i have to wonder if "something" isn't going on with her healthwise ...

and in re-reading your post, do you suppose your dog was actually trying to help keep her safe cuz he knew she shouldn't be running away??? hmmmmmmmmmm ...

good luck!!
Bon.
