I let him run the bedroom. He sleeps on a shelf in the closet, then comes down on the dressor in the morning...where he can get some heat and food.
The things i use are:
heat mat - for heat,
old towel - to lounge on,
Incandesent lamp - to soak up some heat,
floresent vita.... - to get some rays,
long flower box - to crap in
some cheap plastic sheets to line the flowerbox,
and some metal bars.
The most expensive thing is them dam floresent lights.
