Didn't know if you had scrolled way down & caught a post re your question on the diet controversy made by Alta to you. Just wanted to call it to your attention because I know you are anxious over this.

This is all my own opinion, okay? But I would stick with the 2:1 ratio as a general rule of thumb. Baby & juvenile igs need more supplements in the calcium & vitamin dept. than do adults. Theoretically, they SHOULD get all they need from their food just as we humans SHOULD and NOTneed vitamins. But we take vitamins to make up for anything we might be missing or drink calcium fortified o/j, etc. etc. So I do supplement our adult igs once a week.

This does change, however, in the case of a gravid reptile (ig or otherwise). If they are not getting enough calcium in their diet, their body will begin to ROB it from their bones to be used for making the egg shells. I think the most preferred method of upping their calcium intake at this time is the use of Rep-Cal dusted over their food rather than upping the ratio of the food itself. You might ask Desiree or Dino their feelings on this issue if it is verfied that your iguana is gravid. There may be others out there who have dealt with gravidity (is that a word? LOL) but I know those two folks have for sure. Both times ours was I dusted 3x a week with Rep-Cal instead of my usual once.

And don't forget the VERY important role true, unfiltered sunshine plays in the absorption & use of Vit D3....and exercise for the expectant iguana.

I'm sure this will drive you crazy until you know for sure about any eggs! Hang in there.....you have lots of support here at the forum. Saw your post re handling....there was so much good advice for you that I stayed quiet that day. Just remember that a lot of us long-time owners learned thru "mistakes" so don't beat yourself up over the little things. The key word in that sentence is LEARNED. Even after having had an iguana for 5 years.....I still learn new things!

Let us know how the vet visit goes.....take care of that little green girl & yourself!
