: i am going on vacation for 8 days and wondered if i fed my iguanas alot the day and day before alot would they be fine without food for that long. i have timers for the heat lamp and would leave a big bowl of water but dont want them to feel starved. please let me know. the pet sitters here are expensive.
The water will be disgusting until you get back. Not only that -- I keep my ig in a cage ONLY when my mom has to babysit. It never fails -- he will always poop in his water bowl in the cage, but never out of it. Also, with the heat lights and no food for eight days, your ig can dehydrate and become skinny and weak. Don't you have any friends that can watch them for you? Any relatives? If you have a hot spell, your ig can dehydrate and die. Our vet's office is also a kennel and will keep igs provided you bring the cage and all of the lights and stuff. Our vet only charges $4 per day. See if you can find one of those.
