"I do not have concrete proof that animal protein killed several of our iguanas. But I do know that animal protein was a large part of the diets of all of our animals that have died due to crystallization of major internal organs, to include the liver and kidney first and foremost. So what I CAN tell you, is that we have seen MUCH healthier, and MUCH more natural growth in iguanas that have NOT been fed animal protein. "

This is my point . You don't have proof ? In yet you tell me you know that is was a major part of the demise of these animals ? The first part of my post offers you an entire book based on almost three years of field research by Burghart and Rand on of the ONLY long term studies in the wild I might add but you ignore it . Have you even read this book ? I have taken many courses in biology and have a very good understanding of how bodies work .

The fact is that you are locked into your idea . Any biologist can tell you that formations in the kidneys ( crystallization ) as you call it is due more to a lack of WATER then anything else . This is why during a drought many animals in the area get stones . Ask your doctor as this applies to humans as well ..

My major two questions would be .

1 ) Where have you seen an iguana that has NOT been feed any animal protein ?
2) EXACTLY how many iguanas have you kept track of that had high intake and low intake and for how long ?

Travis

I am not trying to argue with you . I am simply trying to point out facts that I can in fact back up with documented research and studies . Not to mention almost 20 years of hands on experience . If you feel you would like to talk in private feel free to email me ..
