In Reply to: No, you will be fine. But you should probably take the Ig to a vet posted by Mark on June 19, 2002 at 16:22:26:
That was quite possibly the most ignorant answer I've seen you throw out here. Yes, if the choking has ceased and breathing returned then the immediate choking issue was most likely resolved -hence, an emergency trip that night may not have been warranted but definitely the next day during normal hours.
HOWEVER, with a possible prolapse in progress and assuming that emergency veterinary care was available, combined with the fact that Tim fully acknowleged that they are new to iguana keeping, I find it totally irresponsible for you of all people (a supposed reptile "rescuer") to pass off a prolapse as something not to worry too much about.
I'm sorry if this comes across harshly as I've been preparing for a court case tomorrow and it's now nearly 1:30 a.m. but this simply didn't sit well with me at all. Not many people, new iguana keepers especially, would know how to properly treat a prolapse until such time as it could be seen by a vet. Having had to deal with this twice in the last month alone I feel that I can safely comment on this topic. OR maybe I'm just a bit on edge from having to prepare to deal with a rather self serving, arrogant, and selfish individual who's wasting time that should be used caring for animals. Maybe I'm off base and over tired....
