Thorn my 2 years old male iguana ate a few days ago 6 or 7 aquatic plants I used to put in a vase of water inside his cage.He loves to eat that plant but he never ate so many at the same time. The result was a diarrhea and since now he keeps avoid basking. His skin became dry and lost its natural shine.I put a water bowl with sugar and salt (2 parts sugar 1 part salt) in his cage because I dont trust Pedyalite. It can be a very dangerous product if you exceed the dose.He is eating very well and I didnt see any trace of diarrhea in his cage anymore. As until know I havent found any VET here who cares for Reptiles your list of signs of illness helped me a lot!!Can you complete it for me??
It can take up to 72 hours to kill some parasites, ones that have an oocyst (egg), larva, and adult forms need strong bleach-water soaks for 3 consecutive days to make sure all forms of the parasite are killed. One day's cleaning will only kill some larva and most if not all of the adults, it will leave eggs behind. These can hatch and infect the new iguanas.
: Please make sure the shop owner watches the new iguanas carefully and seeks veterinary care at the first sign of any illness (diarrhea, listlessness, lack of appetite, avoiding basking spot, etc.)
