I work at a small petstore by my house and have been there for quite a while now picking up information now and then. I have found that there is a reason for those conditions, partcularily with iguanas.
petstores can aquire green iguanas extremely cheaply... however they must purchase them in bulk.
green Iguanas are also very popular and are therefor quite easy to move.
because of this cost factor and there popularity many small petstores will by them and put them in whatever they have at hand(20gallons, 15gallons, Ive even seen half a dozen packed into a 10gallon)this is in some cases a inhumane act, but they will do whatever they can to make money.many stores will sell iguanas because iguanas will cost them the same amount as a swift yet are much more desirable, however with a price like that(19.99-24.99)the people that buy them are likely buying them for there affordability and can there for not afford the proper setup for them.
for that very reason are store as decided to stop selling them and when we are donated one it will likely sell for nearly $40.00, (living in its own terrarium untill then).
this store is way out of line but i thought you might appreciate an explanation.

P.S.- please yell at
someone about that.
