: ROCHELLE PARK - The flight of the iguana ended where it began - at home.
: Elliott, a 4-foot-long, orange and green lizard, walked across the basement floor of his Thiem Avenue home early Wednesday, as his 19-year-old owner was watching television with a buddy.
: "I heard a loud noise," said Ryan Dreschniol. "I saw him walking over to the dish of lettuce we left out for him to eat."
: The reptile had been at large since Saturday, when he bolted from his cage.
: Fearful that Elliott had slipped out an open door, Dreschniol's mother called the police Tuesday.
: Dreschniol said he and his friend returned home about 6 a.m. Wednesday when he spotted the iguana. He ran over and trapped Elliott in a laundry basket.
: "Then he busted out of the laundry basket, too, even though I put weights on it. I had to turn around and grab him," he said.
: Dreschniol has no idea where his pet of 13 years spent his time on the lam. He was sporting a fresh coat of dirt.
: At last glance, Elliott was safely, although not happily, enclosed. "He looks [angry] that he's sitting in there," Dreschniol said.
: Dreschniol doubts another escape will follow. "The whole top of the cage is covered," he said. "I put, like, 65 pounds on there."
