The bigger the better. More vetical than horizontal.
Make it easy to clean....and I mean non-porous surfaces! And the cage needs to be easily accessible-- easy to reach the areas to clean.
Good prices will help.
I wouldn't use a heating pad, but provide different sockets for UV (tube or newer bulb type), heat lamp, and night heat (ceramic is what I use). Or you can use the wire mesh on top as I think you mentioned.
Shelves & climbing areas are needed.
People can get their own food and water dishes but keeping in mind they may want a large water tub as well.
Below is a link to my cage info. & pricing. The negatives regarding my cage design are that it is expensive to build and it is very heavy (although it is on wheels). The doors are too heavy. The positives are that it is EASY to clean and it is full of climbing activities (although a less dexterous iguana may have some trouble). Maybe you can learn something from my mistakes/successes. I have built several cages and this is my favorite so far but it isn't perfect. I have a nose rubber so I cannot have a cage with a lot of wire (only have it on top) Good luck to you.
