I've started using them on my lizards that like a very hot basking spot, like the Uros and the Tegus. These lizards prefer a basking spot of well over 120 degrees. I've found that the halogen produce a significantly higher temperature at a lower wattage than regular household bulbs or flood lamps. I can replace a 150 watt outdoor flood bulb with a 50 watt halogen and get the same temps. In the long run that saves money on the electric bill. I've not used them for iguanas but I'm sure in the right circumstances they could work. I'm currently using PowerSun mercury vapor bulbs on my igs. As in any heat lamp situation just make sure the lizard can't come in contact with the reflector or bulb and that you monitor the temps!
