Thanks a bunch! I know I sound like such a wuss.. but I am afraid. However, I will start trying to tame him. My son worked with him very little. Perhaps once a week he would take him out of his cage. : Dont be so scared of the bites or holding it.
: An ig's bite is less worse than a ticked off monitor lizard!

: The key is never to approach from above the animal, but from the side or underside. If from above, the hand is viewed as a predator, and snap!

: The only concern after a bite is infection and salmonella. Keep ur hads clean before/after handling, keep the iguana n cage clean, n u'll be fine.

: Some suggest putting ur hand in the cage, and just pet it and give it a treat or two. Do this for a week so mr hand becomes familiar to the animal.

: Later, try handling. Prior to that, escape-proof the room, they can be fast, and sqeeze in tight places.

: with patience and some tlc it should be ok in about a month. depends how much ur son has tamed it in the past.

: keep the experience simple, pleasant as possible, and stress free. start with five or ten minutes, and work up to 20 minutes.

: reward with treats. reading a book or surfing the web is a good way of 'handing out' with the ig.
