concerning runing free

Hi A few times now I have set my iggy out to run free in our room. He seems to love it and is verry good about not being a menece or anything. I would like to just let him go free 24-7 should I do this he ios only maby 20" long are there any concerns to watch out for? Will he be able to find his food bowl? can they be tought to use a little box? thanks for all the help
