You just have to try to get the kind that don't come apart easily. I bought some that did and had to take them out because Sleestack was ripping them up by climbing on or near them--making quite a mess. He never tried to eat them, but I could see where he may accidentally if one of the leaves fell off near his food.

Some iguanas will eat them anyway...my last iguana ate all kinds of inanimate objects and couldn't have fake plants in his cage for that reason.
