Halogen lights are exellent for providing a more concentrated basking spot. I use halogens for all my lizards during the summertime as normal bulbs would result in much to much heat rollof into the sourounding area. When it's 80F+ outside (and no one up here has air conditioning), their entire room would be the same temp as the basking spot.
