It's hard to say but it could be thermal burns/ or heat rock burns.

It could also be a viral/bacterial/fungal skin infection.

This is more of a job for a vet...sounds serious. You could look for info on injuries on Melissa Kaplan's site (she has a pretty extensive list of ig health problems) and read the descriptions.
