As far as all of the igs healing, make sure that you aren't "forcing" any peeling prematurely as that can do just as much damage. Make sure that humidity is kept high to keep skin/scales hydrated and help facilitate the healing process. My guess is that, in conjunction with the antibiotic ointment, Silvadene was also possibly prescribed to treat the burned areas.
As far as heat sources, I personally prefer radiant heat panels as opposed to ceramic heat emitters to control ambient heat temps. Surface temps of the panels only get approx 150*-180*, they do not burn upon contact and I haven't had problem one with the unit I've been running for the last two years constantly. It's controlled by an ESU Temp Controller and I haven't had to even think about it since the day it was installed. Depending on your particular enclosure setup a panel can either be mounted directly to the ceiling of the enclosure with screws if it is solid or can be affixed by other means using various hardware. HerpSUpplies.com has several different sizes/wattages to choose from. You can also try a search for Enerjoy Radiant Heat Panels. That site will give you many more options - probably more than you will ever have an application for....;)
