Hi all. Well, I have an appointment for JJ to see the vet next Saturday, becuase she has a blister on her belly. When I took her to the vet last fall for her blood test (which came back great), I mentioned that she had some blisters on her belly, but that they had gone away. He looked, and thought that it was probably burns from when she had climbed on top of her UV flourescent bulb. Since I resolved the problem of her being able to get up there, he felt she was OK, and I should just keep and eye on it. Well, she's getting another one, hence the appointment. These don't start out as blisters, but develop into it... The spot right now actually looks like a ringworm! (ew!) It's a flat ring of discolored scales. It does not seem to hurt her. I know it sounds awful, but it sounds like the blister disease I have read about. But I pride myself in taking excellent care of my animals. She has a large 6'x6'x2' cage with climbing and basking branches, UV lights, good diet (salad with collards, dandelion, turnip greens, etc, I have about 10-12 different kinds of "leaves" that I rotate weekly, but emphasize the collards and dandelion. I also add some veggies and friuts in small amounts.) Her temps are good, and I have a humidifier pumped into her enclosure, but not aimed where the water condenses anywhere that she would be sitting on a danp branch... I know this dermititis is said to be caused by bad husbandry, but I thought I was doing good. Could this reaccuring problem be something she had before I got her, and just hasn't gone away since it has not been treated? Am I paranoid, and this may not even BE blister disease? I plan on taking pics of what the spot looks like now in case it has progressed to the blister stage by the time I get her to the doctor. I want him to see what it looks like in the beginning. The last time she had a blister it was not discolored from the scales around it, just raised. The discoloration must just be in the begining.
I apologise for the length of post, but I am worried about my poor little JJ.
