Last time we had this similar situation (before the last vet visit), I used Tinactin on her belly, and it cleared up (slowly). Although the vet thought the marks were burns from her climbing on her uvb light, I was not convinced, but since they were only scars from blisters that had healed, there was not much the vet could do... You are right, it can't hurt to treat it in the mean time... I will at least try the tinactin again, and continue making sure she is dry from her shower before she goes in her cage. (She looks so cute snuggled up in a towel!) I think just to rest my mind too, I will pull her main basking branch out this week, and bake it in the oven for a while to make sure there is nothing nasty living on it! So far the mark has not turned into a blister, so maybe it's not even the same thing... Hopefully the vet will have some ideas. Thanks!
: and that is fungal...but I have to agree that it sounds like you're doing an excellent job so I can see why one would not look for these things to be occurring in such a good environment. But as we all know...poop happens *smile* Melissa Kaplan's site has some good advice on how to determine if something is fungal or not and how to treat it. I doubt that it would hurt anything to try her suggestions while waiting to see the vet.
