Taking boris outside?

I have a 30-34 inch iguana, and i want to take him outside, i live in florida, and its really hot and humid right now. But i have tried a leash and he wouldnt even let me get it on, and wouldnt even look at me when i walked into his room for about a week later. Ive taken him out befor eholding him but im scared hes gonna runnaway i grip him and he only gets sun on his legs head and tail, whats a good way for taking them out? should i try another kind of leash? thanks
