While it is true that too much UV can be harmful, I have yet to see any commonly available light source short of tanning bulbs that would be hazardous. Iguanas are adapted for a life under the sun, which still puts out more UV than ANY reptile lighting.

So called "full spectrum" lighting is not as such...they can call it this legally, as most actually are full VISIBLE specturm lights. UVB is not visible, and is not produced in any incandescent, it is a physical imposibility.

Wavelengths cannot combine either. UVB is of a shorter wavelength than UVA or visible light, and as such, wavelengths cannot be shortened by combination. All you would get would be the visible spectrum with some UVA.

For UVB, use a ZooMed 5.0 flourescent. Or, you could also take a look at ZooMed PowerSun or ActiveUV mercury vapour bulbs. I've personally never used the mercury vapour's, but many other's on this board do, and they swear by them. (that was you plug D's....)

Also, after reading you reply to IGUANA JOE, please do not feed you iguana ANY animal protein. This includes pinkies, crickets, cheese, etc, etc. Iguanas are herbivorous lizards, and should only be fed plant matter. Greens, veggies, and some fruit. No one really knows exactly how much animal protein it takes to kill or shorten the life of an iguana, so don't take the chance.
