Well said.
As one that does keep a male and female together 24/7, I'll throw in a couple of comments:
Cage size: I believe not only prefferable to have an entire room, but a neccessity. Animals react differntly caged. Even if the iguanas never use the entire room for roaming, etc, the sense of space is what is important. They know that at any time they want, they can move away from the other. It is a common physcological reaction that even applies to humans. A person generally has no problem being with others in a house or room, but lock them in and see how quickly tempers flare.
Mating: Will most likely not happen every year, but it will happen at some point. The only plud here is that from my experience, males with females present are less violent and all around nasty during breeding season that males with no females around. Even if they do not mate, the fact that there is a female that is "his" and no male to challenge this position appears to have an effect. When mating does occur, simply provide for the female as in any other year, and freeze and discard of the eggs. I have witnessed copulation of my igs, and it really was not a violent process (at least for mine, I cannot speak for others)
My iguanas are wonderful together, but I still would not extrapolate this to be 100% the norm. As with all animals, every iguana is different, and I am sure there are combinations of individual iguanas which would not work out, just wanted to show that it is possible though.
