I built my son's ig a new cage. The ig is young, about two foot from
nose to tail.He was in a 75 gallon breeder tank. The new encloser
is 4'h x 4'l x 30"w.I figured that would last him a while.He has
basking lights,uv light,basking shelves,large water pan, ect.The cage
is made out of melamine with sliding plastic mesh front doors. The problem
we've had is that ever scence we put him in there all he does is
lay on he basking shelf. He will not go to the bottom of cage for
food or water. If I put food on basking shelf with him,he will
eat a little. He won't go to water dish at all.His temperment seems
to have changed also.He has no problem whipping us with his tale
when we go to pick him up.Never really did this before. One more thing, the cage
bottom and shelf is covered with astro-turf(the soft kind),maybey he doesn't like
walking on it.......don't know.He has been in there about five days
now.More time to adjust? We have had this ig scence December,so
he is not new to us.Any thoughts would be appreciated.
