heating

I am thinking about building a larger enclosure for my iguana, but it seems from what I have been hearing from everyone on this page that It is going to take a lot to heat it to the proper temperature. can anyone suggest the best method of heating an enclosure 6feet square? Also how much is this going to cost me in electricity bills, and I am always worried about having all these heaters and extention chords being a fire hazard. I want to do this right the first time and i don't want to risk burning my house down!!
