I'm at least glad to know what happeend, even though like loosing a child or human it hurts terribly. You did the right thing. I remember years ago when my mom put her dog to sleep because he was so old..she had had him since she was 18, and married my father. She cried for days.

Just keep him close to your heart, and remember those special times you had with him.
