Don't purposely go out to find a female for yours to breed with - not just because of the 20-30 little ones you could unecessarily generate, but more so for the female's sake. When they mate, the male bites/clamps onto the back of the female's neck. She may/may not submit, by raising her tail at the vent location. If she fights it, she could get herself killed. If she does, she could still get very injured. There's been many pics of female IG's heads being crushed via a mating ritual.
I have a male and female adult. They don't live together, in fact they're on different floors of the house, each with big cages. When they were younger, they managed to mate when we lived in an apartment, so have seen the whole ritual thing up close. By the way, don't let the male climb on you right after that - it's messy - eeew! Her head could fit completely inside his mouth now, so we will never let them mate - too dangerous, not worth the risk... Thom
