don't use "sugar water" ...
try plain water or "pedialyte" ("baby" section of grocery/drug stores) ... try using the oral syringe ... use lukewarm water and just give a couple drops at a time ...

chances are with his sore tongue + his nervousness, he's NOT going to let you get anything into his mouth ... since you're getting to the vet's tomorrow, i think at this point i'd say leave him alone ~ keep him warm, keep it *dark*, let him sleep/relax ...

hard to say what's up with his tongue ... that could be the root of all the probs lately tho ~ why he's not eating, etc ... it's truly AMAZING what igs get in to ... (iZ proves this to me on a regular basis ~ unfortunately ...)
