is absolutely preferred over and above ANY artificial source of UV.... HOWEVER, there are only two choices when one wants to use strictly "natural" sources of UV. 1.) Live in a climate where it is possible to keep an iguana or other animal of your choice in an outdoor enclosure year round. Of course, if you live in a climate such as this there is a fairly good chance that you already have wild versions of the animal that you are keeping running around your property so why bother caging them at all?
2.) See #1
Otherwise, UV producing bulbs are an absolute necessity in order to keep healthy diurnal reptiles that require UV. No, they may not produce as much UVB as the sun but, then again, it IS radiation and until people decide to stop keeping wild animals such as iguanas, bearded dragons, water dragons, etc. as "pets" there will always be a need for some form of UV producing unit.
You might want to do some more research on your own in order to get your numbers and hypotheses straight. Otherwise, you may not be able to tell which are viable testimonials and which are carp.
