It would be nice of you to adopt this one after you read up and decide if an iguana is for you. Get a hold of James Hatfield's Giant Green Iguana Manual or Melissa Kaplan's Iguanas for Dummies. These are both great books.
You will have some taming to do it sounds like. Sometimes it takes longer than other times but it usually can be done with patience.
You will need a UV light, a heat lamp, and a diet of calcium rich and nutritious veggies (collards, mustards, dandelion, escarole, endive, watercress, turnip greens, some squashes, and a little fruit like melon, berries, mango etc.) These are just a few starters. He will need a bigger cage or room so it is good you realize that now because they grow fast!
Whatever you decide, good luck to you from Sleestack and me!
