Did the vet suggest anything topical if you can get at the affected tissue? When Kermit's mouth was healing we used a very dilute solution of Nolvasan on the damaged and healing tissue. It seemed to work pretty well. I wonder if a very weak Chlorhexidine solution would be beneficial?
