before we see yet another so-called rescue not able to provide the proper environment, husbandry, and medical care needed. As far as not taking on more than can be handled.....all I can say is "famous last words". I started out thinking I could do this on a small time basis. Well, sometimes it's just impossible to say "no". I'm now housing 17 GGI's as well as a fairly extensive family of other herps. Just to state an example of what a rescue can be facing my electric bills this winter are running over $400/month. Food bills for the herps is running over $80/wk not including carnivore diets. I work for 6 hours at home every day before I leave to go to my job that pays for all of this and then work another couple of hours when I get home. I'm very lucky in that I have a vet that will cut me some deep discounts on the rescues and also encourages some treatments be done at home.
I'm not bashing, just pointing out some things that may not have been considered or that have been overlooked.
