i had that problem with mustard greens but then iZ decided he hates them and won't eat a single bite of them ... so no problem any more!
everything else, i wash and then let it dry before packing it back up for the fridge ... it'll last about a week ... (letting it dry thoroughly makes a big difference) the thinner leaves (like mustard, don't seems to last as long as the thick ones like collards....)
i slice up the zuchinni, yellow squash and sweet potato into a big plastic strainer and then put the whole thing in a big plastic bag ... having *some* air flow seems to have helped it not get so mushy, so fast ...
i feed the 'rejects' to the wild bunnies in my yard so it doesn't feel like a *total* waste ...
