In Reply to: Keeping leafy greens GREEN! posted by Kitty on February 15, 1999 at 14:27:15:
Hello Kitty, My greens usually keep for a long time, they stay crisp also. I have a lettuce keeper, it looks like a ball, it clear, round, and has a flat bottom. I bought it like 3 years ago from a kitchen specialty shop. I just wash my greens, take out the bad lookin ones, and pack the rest in the lettuce keeper, and put them in my fridge. They stay fresh well over a week. Sometimes, when the green I purchase are not that great, I just wash them, and soak them in cold water for an hour, that usually brings some life into them. There have been a few times when I was too lazy to pack the greens right away, they wilt in like 2 days or less in my frige. Then, off to buy greens again. Hope this helps. Yvette
