"Many Doctors are not well acquainted with reptile bites, so they may not be aware that your wound may be infected with two types of bacteria. These bacteria are classified on the basis of how they respond to staining when prepared for viewing under a microscope: Gram Positive and Gram Negative. Letting your doctor know about the potential presence of both in the wound ensures that you're given a prescription for an antibiotic that's effective against both types of organisms."
With that said, I wouldn't take any chances if your wound is that swollen. I'd have it checked out. Hope you feel better soon! J
