Hello!

Iguana's need humidity because their natural environment is humid. It helps to keep them hydrated, and to make sure shedding goes well. A low humidity level = problems with a shed = possible loss of toes, spikes, tail.

No, Tarzan has never showed signs of aggression. He has always been a ham, lol. Yes, as a juvenile/hatchling he was skittish when I tried to take him out of his enclosure, but he got used to that relatively quickly. He doesn't tail whip, or bite. Which is great since we have children in our neighborhood who like to check him out :)

Gali, the juvenile I am currently caring for, is very aggressive. I've been bitten by him many times. He's gotten me in the face with his tail some umpteen times too. I moved him into a larger, juvenile enclosure in hopes that he'll calm down a bit- since the tank he came in was growing too small. What my hypothesis is, is that he was growing stressed because of it. I'll keep working with him - now with gloves on. :) He bites like a pitbull! grab-shake-hold I've noticed (this may seem a bit silly) but I've noticed that his teeth are VERY large and sharp. I open Tarzan's mouth about once a month to make sure everything is ok in there, and with Gali's constant gaping at me, I've gotten plenty an opportunity to see what he's equipped with! lol. I have a scar on my left index finger to remember him by now - it was the first time he "tagged" me, I'm wary ever since ;)

oh my, I'm rambling now! lol. I'm going to stick to the theory that their temperment varies per individual. Although some history may affect how they respond to humans, some Iguana's are simply tempermental, and others not.
