I thought I read somewhere your point on the vent holes (top and bottom, opposite sides), but wasn't sure. Easily changed.
About how big should I make the vent holes? I had planned on 1' x 1'; would half that size be ok?
What exactly is a muffin fan? Never heard of one of those.
I am not sure if I can use the radiant heat panel in my apartment. Would a heating pad made for people be ok. I read something about this in the Igs for dummies book...aptly named for me :).
I haven't heard much on MV bulbs before. Do you have a website that I can check them out on?
Also, how many bulbs should i use in an enclosure that size (6'H x 6'W x 4'D)?
And, in your opinion, is that size ok for a 2' long (STL) Ig? I plan on making it able to be expanded when need.
Thank you for the info you gave me. Sorry for so many questions, but I want to provide a good home for Jupiter. Now if I can get him a little more tame.....
Thank you ... Mike
: Myself, I would make it a hard top instead of screen. This way you will be better able to control heat/humidity. Vent holes may be a bit on the large side. Placement should be one at top on one side and one at bottom on other side to promote cross ventilation. Consider a smaller vent hole at the bottom and installing a "muffin" fan at the top instead controlled by a thermostat.
: As for electronics, I would do away with the fluo tubes altogether and go with either a 100w or 160w flood MV bulb on a 12 hour timer, a radiant heat panel roughly 18"x24" & 150w controlled by something like an ESU Temp controller, and a Vicks ultrasonic humidifier installed outside the enclosure and piped in through the top in order to get better coverage with humidity. Find a good humidistat to run the humidifier. Installing it outside ensures that it won't get knowcked over and flood the enclosure or get pooped on. Yuck....
: The MV bulb provides basking heat and UV. The RHP provides 24 hr ambient temp control, and the humidifier keeps a constant humidity - if a humidistat is used.
: Just my .02.... Good luck !...;)
