I know how you feel :)
I have a juvenile iguana, just measured in at 5.5" SVL and 18.5" STL.
He's a complete terror, biting whipping, you name it! I recently moved him into a much larger enclosure than he came to me in, with hopes that his aggression was due to stress from an enclosure that he was growing out of. He would be a wonderful companion, if not for his temperment. He is a beautiful iguana, with lots of blues and very bright greens.
My iguana, Tarzan. Who is 2 years old, 3+ feet STL, around 11" SVL, is great. He is sweet and has never been aggressive (except towards the mirror, and even then its just head bobs and posturing).
I've had him since he was a baby, and fit into the palm of my hand. Since then he's over doubled in size (since August 2000).
I guess the bottom line is, that all iguana's vary in temperment, per individual.
