Salmonella right? Why? because the GOA is uneducated on chelonians. Iguanas carry salmonella too, do you see them being illegal? Also, turtles/tortoises are not illegal to own in Alberta other than native species such as western painted turtles. You can also Import turtles from the US, which I have as long as they are not on the legislative list.
As for the igi's, I haven't seen one for a long time at petstores. They don't even sell reptiles at petcetra because they know the majority of customers are uneducated.
My point is, the best anyone can do is educate keepers.
