Your iguana is not going to die from losing its tail, in several months with the proper temperature lighting, and diet, it will grow back. And it will get along just fine without it n the mean time. Also, unless its a small iguana you are safer letting it roam in a bathtub or a closet than in a box, But it does need special lighting temperature and diet ASAP.
iguanas are relativly cheap, because of the high requirments to keep them alive. To buy a baby iguana, that costs 15 bucks will end up costing you well over 150 just for lighting heating units, and a SAFE enclosure, you can call around to local thrift stores, and ask if they have any 20 gallon or larger aquariums if it is a baby less than a year old, But I still think you are better off taking it back where you got it from, or maybe even donate it to one of the local shelters they normally dont have any problems adopting them out to a responsible individule
